Overview

Workers Health & Safety Centre provides occupational health and safety training to workers, representatives, supervisors, and employers across Ontario.

The work included training manuals, program materials, partnership publications, and promotional communications designed for audiences across different industries and experience levels.

The challenge

Health and safety materials often contain large amounts of detailed and highly important information. The challenge was to organize that content clearly while creating publications that felt engaging, professional, and connected to the organization’s established identity.

The system also needed to accommodate different programs and industry partnerships without making every publication feel identical.

The approach

I extended the existing blue-and-yellow identity through bold typography, structured editorial grids, high-contrast photography, and clearly defined content sections.

Strong hierarchy supports easier scanning of headings, instructions, and supporting details. Colour is used strategically to separate information and draw attention to important content without distracting from readability.

For partnership and industry-specific materials, the underlying system was adapted through imagery, secondary colours, and co-branding while retaining a clear relationship to the broader organization.

The outcome

The resulting materials create a more consistent family of communications across training programs, instructor resources, and industry partnerships.

The system balances organizational credibility with accessible editorial design, supporting complex information while giving each publication a clear and recognizable presence.
